Februāra otrās nedēļas nogalē Salacgrīvu pieskandēja IV Starptautiskā masku festivāla dalībnieki. Folkloras grupas ieradās jau laikus, lai iepazītos un parunātos, jo 2 nākamās festivāla dienas bija saplānotas tā, ka lielai runāšanai laika neatliktu.

Sestdienas rītā pēc kopīgām brokastīm masku grupas devās pilsētā, lai Bocmaņa laukumā un pie Spīķera demonstrētu maskas, rādītu rituālus un kopīgi ietu rotaļās. Daļa folkloras kopu ciemojās pie Ineses Volksones, citi apmeklēja ilgstošās uzturēšanās rehabilitācijas viesnīcas Brīze iemītniekus.

 

Cita pēc citas maskas rādīja savu dejot un dziedātprasmi, vienaldzīgu neatstājot nevienu. Kārtīgi iztrakojušās un izpikojušās, maskas pulcējās pie Tūrisma informācijas centra, lai skaļā, trokšņainā un ļoti krāsainā gājienā dotos uz pilskalnu.

 

Tur festivāla dalībniekus sagaidīja Salacgrīvas kultūras nama vadītāja Pārsla Dzērve, sacīdama: "Rīboņa, skaļums, smiekli, instrumentu un visa veida trokšņi liecina, ka Salacgrīvas masku festivāls ir klāt. Pēc kārtīgas izsmiešanās un izālēšanās varēja padzert siltu tēju un izbaudīt ziemas priekus, šļūcot no pilskalna. Pēcpusdienā kultūras namā noritēja festivāla organizētāju un folkloras kopu tikšanās ar novada domes priekšsēdētāju. Uzrunājot viesus, viņš uzsvēra: "Domāju, ka festivāls Salacgrīvā ir kļuvis par tradīciju, un mēs lepojamies ar to, ka uz Salacgrīvu brauc viesi no tuvienes un tālienes. Šis festivāls pierāda, ka norisēs iesaistās un piedalās gan folkloras kopas, gan vietējie iedzīvotāji. Tas ir jauks un brīnišķīgs sarīkojums, kurā cilvēki priecājas un viņiem ir interesanti.
